Volunteer as an English tutor
We are an organization that promotes leadership development within our community: over 70% of our staff are Latina immigrant women hired from our membership base. We rely on English language tutors to help staff members strengthen their oral and written English and learn vocabulary that is helpful for their specific job duties.
Volunteers must be able to commit 2-3 hours per week (up to one hour of prep time, plus 1-2 hours of direct tutoring time at our Oakland or San Francisco offices) for at least four months. Orientation is provided. Prior teaching experience is helpful, but not required. Do you know someone who might be interested? Please have them contact Ana de Carolis, Language Access Program Coordinator: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Help us find event sponsors!
Do you own a business, or do you know any local business owners who would be interested in supporting immigrant women? We are already seeking auction donations, food donations and financial sponsorships from local businesses in both San Francisco and the East Bay for our annual dance at El Rio nightclub on September 16th, 2017. Please contact Lourdes Reboyoso, Grassroots Fundraising Coordinator, at email@example.com to share your ideas and connections!
Attend one of our program graduations
Join us for an afternoon of inspiration at one of our upcoming training program graduation ceremonies. MUA offers a variety of 6 – 12 week classes and training programs to immigrant women who might not otherwise have access to personal and professional development opportunities. All events take place at our San Francisco or Oakland offices. Ceremonies this year include:
Please contact María Jiménez, Programs Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you would like to attend a graduation ceremony.

Our next big march will take place in Oakland on Sunday, May 1, 2017 in honor of immigrant rights. We will rally at Fruitvale BART at 12 pm. At 1pm, we will march to San Antonio Park on Foothill Blvd. and 20th Avenue, where we will celebrate our rights and dignity with live music, speakers, and piñatas. Hope to see you there!
