I am Blanca Fabiola Catalán Salmerón and I am a member-leader in Mujeres Unidas y Activas. I am from Mexico and I came to the US 15 years ago. I am a beneficiary of DACA but just like me, there are thousands who are still in limbo and have nothing certain. The father of my children passed away almost 5 years ago, and now my children only have me. It is only fair that my children live without fear and that they are assured of not losing their mother because of a failed immigration system, that’s why I demand that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, to fulfill what they promised in their campaign and use their political power to negotiate with Senators Sinema and Manchin to achieve an immigration reform. We ask the representatives of California, especially Senator Padilla to advocate for all the millions of immigrants who need a pathway to citizenship. We are tired of them making promises  to us during campaigns, and once they are in power they forget about all the hard-working immigrant community and all that we are contributing to the economy of this country! We are essential workers because despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re still going out everyday to work, we clean houses, we clean buildings, we work in restaurants, as well as farm workers who harvest fruits and vegetables everyday to put on everyone’s table,  while managing the heat, the temperatures, the rain and all the other workers in different areas of work who risk their lives, health, as well as their families’ health! That is why I demand that President Joe Biden fulfills what he promised and that we see actions and not just words! We need an Immigration reform NOW!
