Domestic Worker Rights

More than 80% of MUA members are or have been domestic workers. This is because housework is one of the jobs that is attainable for immigrant women. However, domestic workers do not enjoy the same rights as any other employee, and their jobs are in most cases unstable and poorly paid.

MUA has been a leader in the fight for domestic workers' rights at the local, regional and national levels for more than two decades. MUA founded the National Alliance of Domestic Workers and is co-founder and fiscal sponsor of the California Domestic Workers Coalition.
