BIG (Grassroots Growth Innovation Group)

As part of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, MUA is proud to participate in BIG (Baseline Growth Innovation Group), a project that increases our ability to expand base, scale and develop an effective organizational model for this new phase of our work in the movement. To this end, and under the leadership of our membership organizer Sylvia López, MUA has expanded its efforts to organize domestic workers through the formation of small Seed Committees in different cities and neighborhoods in the Bay Area. MUA now has Seed Committees, made up of domestic workers and immigrant leaders, in Concord, San José and Hayward, and is in the process of forming additional committees in parts of Oakland and San Francisco that are less accessible to our offices. We are excited about this new model to expand our base and grow, following our goal of supporting domestic worker leadership throughout the Bay Area and organizing 10% of this sector in California by 2016.
