This Must Stop: Enough of the Violence Against Our Immigrant Communities

Post |

En Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA), we are deeply outraged by the death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, an immigrant father who was shot by an ICE agent during an operation in Houston, Texas. His death is a tragedy that has devastated a family and deepened the fear that millions of immigrants live with every day. This has to stop.

We cannot continue to allow ICE to unleash violence against our communities with impunity. No one should lose their life simply for being an immigrant. No agency should have the power to decide who lives and who dies.

As an immigrant community, we know what it means to leave home in fear, wondering if we will ever hug our families again, and living under the constant threat of detention, separation, and violence. That is not the future we accept for our communities.

We demand justice for Lorenzo, consequences for those responsible, and an end to violence against immigrants. We will continue organizing and raising our voices until our communities can live with the safety and freedom that everyone deserves.
