Domestic Worker Relief Fund
MUA launched a relief fund for immigrant domestic workers living or working in Alameda County, Contra Costa County or San Francisco County who are currently facing economic hardship. Domestic workers already have amongst the lowest wages of all Bay Area workers, and sadly, with the current fears circulating in our community, thousands have lost significant income over the last year. We hear every day from workers who are struggling.
Our fund will provide a one-time payment to domestic workers facing hardship. Within the first three days of launching our fund, we received nearly 800 applications, far exceeding our planned disbursement to 500 families. For this reason, MUA is not accepting any further applications until we secure additional funding.
