Description of the Organisation 

Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA) is a grassroots organization with 33 years of experience organizing Latina immigrant women. MUA has the dual mission of promoting personal transformation and building community power for economic and social justice. The organization offers its members support group meetings and mental and emotional counseling facilitated by certified community counselors. We also offer workshops on labor rights, labor counseling, and training for female workers. And we also offer workshops on immigrant rights and referrals to legal services and resources. MUA members participate in programming for leadership development and political education. MUA engages its membership in community organizing efforts and political campaigns that bring the voice of immigrant Latina women to important issues at the local, state and national levels. MUA is committed to building an organization led by our membership. Currently, 22 of our team of 34 people started in the organization as members. 

About the Program Manager 

MUA's current programs focus on personal development and healing, leadership development, growing the base, and political activism. Within each of these program areas, MUA offers a variety of activities such as member and committee meetings, orientations for new members, vocational training and advice on labor rights, political education and leadership development courses, ESL classes, social services and legal referrals, community services and workshops based on Know Your Rights. The role of the Program Manager is to ensure alignment between the objectives of the different programs and the goals of the organization. The Program Manager will support monitoring the progress and implementation of the different programs to ensure that objectives are met by meeting with each program coordinator on a regular basis. She will work closely with the Contracts and Grants Manager to understand delivery and documentation requirements. The Program Manager will support the MUA Program Directors in creating an effective evaluation method to adequately review and evaluate the strengths of the different programs and determine any areas for improvement. He will also support Program Directors in monitoring programmatic budgets and provide recommendations when developing new ones. He will also ensure that there is coordination of all MUA activities and services for our members. The Program Manager will provide support to each coordinator of the different programs to ensure that adequate and accurate documentation of each activity and service is maintained. Finally, the Program Manager will support the development and monitoring of programs by working with partner organizations and government agencies.

Main responsibilities 

  • Work closely with those in charge of the programs to create plans for each one, ensuring that these align with both contract and scholarship commitments as well as the strategic goals of the organization. 
  • Monitor the progress of each program's work plans to ensure compliance with both program goals and deadlines. 
  • Create a method to evaluate different programs, identify strengths and areas for improvement 
  • Manage and regularly update the calendar of MUA events and activities in coordination with all staff 
  • Coordinate with the communications manager to ensure the appropriate publication of activities and events in digital media 
  • Work closely with the Contracts and Grants Manager to understand documentation requirements for activities and services 
  • Work closely with those in charge of each program to ensure that good documentation is maintained of all activities and services provided 
  • Maintain and update internal Guides, and external resources and references to ensure that members are referred to MUA staff and corresponding agencies.
  •  Participates and represents MUA in key meetings with coalitions and government agencies, related to the maintenance of this work 
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of budgets together with program directors
  • Help maintain the organization's database, in collaboration with other key personnel. 

The Ideal Candidate Possesses the Following Skills 

  • Passionate about the fight for social justice and strong commitment to the empowerment of immigrant women 
  • Bilingual English-Spanish, with advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • 3+ years of experience in program management or project management
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including communicating across different cultural perspectives and levels of professional training. 
  • Ability to work with emotional intelligence, navigating individual and team conflicts productively, with empathy and integrity. 
  • Ability to monitor progress toward goals and track measures of success effectively. 
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and other productivity applications
  • Experience working with a database, preferably Salesforce. 
  • Knowledge of budgeting is a plus. 

Compensation: 

Horas: Full-time non-exempt position – 40 hours per week 

Salary: $61,000-$64,000, depending on experience.
