Counseling and Referrals

MUA members receive specialized training to provide counseling sessions—Soul Clinics—to women seeking support. During these sessions, counselors provide a safe and non-judgmental space to share and overcome challenges at home or at work. They also provide referrals and information about other community resources and agencies. MUA counselors meet the State of California's required training as domestic violence counselors and sexual assault counselors and are here to listen to all women with compassion and confidentiality. Peer counseling is available Monday through Friday in Spanish and also in Mam, an indigenous language of Guatemala.
