Programs for Moms and Grandmothers

2013_Photos moms and children-24 (1) MUA offers a series of workshops that focus on developing healthier relationships between parents and children. These workshops are designed to support parents and grandparents, as well as women caring for young children. Often, as parents, we isolate ourselves from our problems by believing that we are the only ones having a difficult time with our children. Through our workshops (adapted from the Hand in Hand Parenting curriculum) we share information that is helpful in understanding children, identifying when our children may need help, and how to ask for help when we need it. Participants have the opportunity to talk about their own experiences and knowledge, as well as develop strategies to address current problems they may be having. The main objective of the workshops is to help us become more confident in our ability to create a healthy and stimulating environment for the development and growth of our children. Workshops are offered safely and confidentially in a group format or one-on-one (if preferred). Please contact Maria de Jesus at marial@mujeresunidas.net for more information.

(Due to the pandemic MUA does not offer these programs at the moment)

MUA offers an on-site child care program during all meetings, workshops and trainings that are attended by members of our community who have been trained as child care providers. Our child care program is an opportunity for our members' children to connect with their culture, learn and participate in social movements, and develop healthy relationships.

MUA also offers family programs, such as “Family Nights,” which bring members and children together to celebrate Latino culture and be proud of being bilingual and bicultural. We create community celebrations throughout the year for our members and their families.
