Help MUA Keep Up the Fight

We send you our greetings and best wishes in this challenging time.   Today is the launch of our year-end fundraising campaign to help ensure our work continues into 2021 and beyond.

The pandemic has pushed us to be creative in finding ways to support the immigrant community. We are offering counseling, support groups, and vocational training remotely, and hundreds of women are participating in our online programs. We just sent out a second round of relief checks to over 600 current and former MUA participants who are experiencing continued hardship. And we have continued to organize for systemic change through electoral mobilization and policy advocacy, including introducing new legislation locally and statewide to ensure domestic workers have health and safety protections.

We encourage you to donate to MUA to help our leaders keep up the fight.  One of those leaders is Ana Vilma.  She says:

I have been a domestic worker for more than 20 years, providing in home support services and childcare too.  I have been involved for many years in the movements for Domestic Worker Rights. I have also been involved in the MediCal for All campaign.  I live with my daughter, who works in a hotel restaurant.  But when the COVID pandemic started, she lost her job.  And we haven’t been able to pay rent.  It’s very hard to feel so vulnerable, due to my age and my diabetes, and to know that I am at greater risk.  I feel that it is important that we all keep fighting so that everyone has access to health care.

Donate today.  A generous donor will match any gift given from today through December 31st, up to $30,000!

Thank you for standing with essential workers in the fight against structural racism.  Your donation will ensure that MUA members can continue to carry out this fight by organizing to hold our elected leaders accountable.

Please watch the six minute video below to hear directly from Ana Vilma and other MUA members about the ongoing challenges they face, the many ways they are advocating for change, and how their involvement in MUA has helped buoy them through this time.  And if you can, please donate to MUA by December 31st to help us meet our matching challenge.

We are thankful for your support!
