My name is Teresa, and I’m from Mexico. I have been coming to Mujeres Unidas y Activas since 1994. I first came because I was unemployed I did not have money to pay my rent. I was very worried of how I was going to survive. When I had to take my kids to school their teacher asked; what’s wrong, you look very sad. I told her about my troubles and she referred me to MUA. This is my second home. I’m always welcomed. The trainings prepare us to be independent. I have learned that being a woman, a mother, and a grandmother is worth so much, and that I deserve respect.
