Malena Mayorga is a community organizer, popular educator and cultural worker, originally from El Salvador. She has worked in immigrant rights grassroots organizing, anti-militarization and human rights in Latin America, and in gender-based violence prevention with community college students. She is also dedicated to using the arts for personal and collective transformation in projects with survivors of violence, incarcerated people, and to sustain historic memory of the war in El Salvador. She is passionate about community media and has documented social movements in Latin America and the US through photography and video. Malena brings her passion for immigrant rights and building the power of impacted communities to the position of Rapid Response Coordinator for the Alameda County Immigration Legal and Education Partnership.
