Martha Sánchez joined MUA and became a member in 2017. She is from Guatemala where she learned to speak Spanish and Mam, an indigenous Mayan language. There are thousands of Mam-speaking Guatemalan women in the Bay Area. Many of them do not speak Spanish or English, and need resources in their language.

In October of 2020 Martha joined MUA as a staff member for the Mam Group. She enjoys learning and working with people from different cultures. Currently, she is focused on supporting the mam community, learning about resources, and reaching out to members of the mam community.
